Starting with modern masters such as Cézanne and Matisse as his inspiration, Weissbort gradually moved backwards in time to his final lodestars: Mantegna, Titian, and Vermeer.

He works unremittingly, inspired by nature and by his exemplars, striving continuously to improve; exploring the infinite and subtle worlds of line, shape, tone, form and colour.

To celebrate his 80th birthday, George will be having a major exhibition of his work at the Denise Yapp Contemporary Art Gallery, Whitebrook, Monmouthshire from 11th April until 11th May 2008

For details of this and future exhibitions please see the Exhibitions page

At the exhibition, George will also be launching his new book, George Weissbort, Paintings and Drawings, containing over 130 full colour plates of his paintings and drawings as well as transcripts of a filmed interview with George and essays from Tony Rudolph, David Lee, and Bernard Dunstan RA.
