Helpful Tips For Making Cake

You are welcome to use a boxed cake mix if you want. You don’t have to do homemade, but I love the cereal flavored milk. It really gives this cake a stand out flavor.

For the frosting I made a cereal milk buttercream, but you are more than welcome to use any flavor of frosting you want.

Watch your cake to ensure you do not overbake it, as it can dry out the cake. All ovens heat a bit different so use the cook time as a guide.

If you want you can make two 8 inch cakes to create a layered cake instead of a 9×13 cake if you would like.

Storing Cake

For this rainbow sheet cake it can be stored on the counter at room temperature or you can refrigerate the cake as well. I find that refrigerating the cake extends the shelf life of the cake by a few days.

It is best to eat the cake within the first 1-2 days of making it. Store for 3-5 days, depending how stored.

You can freeze this cereal cake for 2-3 months in a proper container. Just thaw on the counter or in the fridge overnight for a slow thaw.

Cereal Cake Ingredients

  • 3 cups Lucky Charms Cereal separate cereal and marshmallows
  • 2 cups milk only use 3/4 cup milk for cake
  • 1 1/4 cup All purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla
  • Green food coloring optional

Cereal Milk Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 tablespoons cereal milk
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Marshmallows and sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
  • Spread the Lucky Charms cereal (no marshmallows) on a prepared cookie sheet. Make sure to do an even layer. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, stirring half way.
  • Once done remove cereal and allow it to cool a bit. Then place the cooled cereal in a strainer and place in a bowl of milk, allowing the cereal to soak.
  • Once done soaking drain milk, and discard cereal.
  • Then bump up the oven to 350 degrees, and grease your 9×13 cake pan.
  • In a bowl you will add your flour, cornstarch, salt and baking powder. Mix to combine, and set aside.
  • Then in a bowl you will mix the butter, oil and sugar. You want to cook on medium speed for 2-3 minutes. You want it to lighten up in color and fluff up.
  • Mix in the eggs, vanilla, and 3/4 cup of cereal milk.
  • Next, slowly mix in the dry ingredients to the batter. Make sure to scrape down the sides if needed.
  • Now you will add in a few drops of the green food coloring, mix one last time to combine.
  • Pour into a greased 9×13 pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cake is baked and sticking a toothpick in the center it comes out clean of wet batter.
  • Let the Lucky Charm cake cool completely before frosting.

Frosting Directions

  • In a large bowl mix the butter and powdered sugar, with 1-2 tablespoons of the cereal milk. Add in the vanilla extract as well.
  • You won't have to use all the milk of the frosting seems wet enough. It just depends on the frosting. You will beat the frosting for 2-3 minutes on medium speed.

Frosting Cake

  • For frosting the cake you will use an offset spatula and spread the frosting in an even layer all over the 9×13 cake. Make sure your cake is fully cooled, or the frosting will melt into the cake.
  • Once frosting is applied, sprinkle or place the Lucky Charms Marshmallows all over the cake.
  • I then added a few rainbow sprinkles throughout the cake as well.

Notes

Milk Used – You won't use all the cereal milk for the cake or the frosting. But you need to have enough milk it can soak while cereal is in a strainer.
Frosting – If your frosting is too thin add more powdered sugar. Or if too thick add more of the cereal milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
Storing – You can store cake at room temperature or in the fridge. I prefer the fridge as it extends the shelf life of the cake. You can freeze any cake you don't plan to eat.

Variations To Recipe

  • Avalanche cookies with peanuts are great, just add in 1/3 cup of peanuts. Or opt for chunky peanut butter.
  • Toss in some mini chocolate chips or milk chocolate chunks. You will stir the remaining chocolate chips in at the end when you mix in the cereal, otherwise, it will melt.
  • Use nut butter to replace peanut butter. Nut butter like almond butter or sunflower butter can be used. Just know it will affect the texture just a bit. A cookie butter spread can be used as well. Just know if you have a peanut allergy you can swap ingredients to make it work.
  • Swap the Rice Krispies cereal mixture with Cheerios or other cereal. It will still be a crispy cookie recipe depending on the cereal chosen.
  • Candy melts can be used but just know the quality of chocolate will affect the flavor of the cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of white almond bark 1 pound
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Instructions

  • Add your Rice Krispies and mini marshmallows into a bowl and set aside.
  • Then take your almond bark and place it in the microwave and heat for 30-second increments. Stir in between each heat cycle.
  • Once the almond bark is fully melted stir in the peanut butter, and mix until it combined.
  • Pour in the Rice Krispies mixture, and fold until mixed. Then use a cookie scoop and make 16 cookies and place on wax paper.
  • Allow the avalanche cookies to set up, then enjoy.

Notes

You can add in 1/3 cup peanuts into the mixture for crunch.
Sprinkle on some mini chocolate chips for a sweet twist.
If you need to swap out the peanut butter, you can reach for nut butter or cookie butter. Just adjust the measurement if you have really wet nut butter you are replacing peanut butter with.
Make sure to use gluten-free cereal if you need this to be a gluten-free dessert.
You can use the chocolate almond bark instead of the white chocolate.
Or use chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon shortening to replace the almond bark.
These avalanche cookies can be stored at room temperature for up to 5 days.
If you want to freeze the no-bake avalanche cookies place in a freezer container and freeze for 3-4 months.
You can swap and use a different cereal if you would like. Cheerios, cornflakes, etc would be a tasty swap.

Pancake muffins – a muffin that is made with pancake mix. Read that again! Take your favorite pancake mix and transform it into pancake mix muffins. Simple, delicious, and the mix-in ingredients are endless. An easy breakfast muffin that melts in your mouth.

I am a sucker for any style of muffin. Pumpkin muffins, lemon blueberry, or a lemon poppy seed. Whatever the recipe is, I struggle to have self-control. Easy muffins are calling your name.

stacked muffins on wooden counter

The granulated sugar on top adds a bit of crunch which helps elevate the flavor even more. Eat as a muffin or warm up and then drizzle a little syrup on top for a pancake twist.

This Blueberry Pancake Muffins Recipe Is…

  • Made with pancake mix instead of the classic all purpose flour, and other dry ingredients.
  • Can mix in any fruit, chocolate chips, etc., you want. Fresh blueberries are one of my favorites.
  • Easy to make and easy to convert. Protein pancake mix can be used for added for extra protein.
  • Moist muffins that are fluffy, delicious, and so easy to make.

Ingredients

Pancake Mix – Reach for any brand of pancake mixes you like. I used a buttermilk-style mix.

Sugar – Granulated sugar will sweeten your muffins, and add a dusting of sugar on top for crunch.

Blueberries – Fresh or frozen blueberries.

Eggs and Oil – This is going to help give your muffins the perfect texture and bind ingredients together.

Water

Pancake muffins are an easy muffin that uses pancake mix as the base. This quick blueberry muffin recipe is a hit every single time! Essentially you can mix in any fruit, dried fruit, chocolate chips, and more. A pancake mix recipe that is going to win you over with one fluffy delicious bite.

Variations to Recipe

Fruit – You can add any fruit you want. Strawberries, raspberries, or other fruits of choice. If the fruit is larger in size, cut it down to size. Dried fruit works as well.

Chocolate – White chocolate, milk, or semi-sweet chips are great for stirring in. You can also chop up your favorite baking chocolate bar.

Nuts – Love nuts? If so, add in a few nuts. Almonds, walnuts, pecans, or other nut of choice.

How to Make

Full directions on how to make muffins with pancake mix are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a quick walk-through.

  1. Start by preheating your oven, and then grease your pan or place liners in the muffin tin.

Expert Tips For Making Muffins

  • Frozen Berries – If you are using frozen blueberries, this tip is good to know. Rinse your berries in cold water, then drain. This will help pull away the extra blue color and won’t leave your batter streaky.
  • Liners – I love cupcake liners. They can add a look to the muffins but also help with easy cleanup. Letting the muffins cool helps to remove them easier from the muffin liner.
  • Serving – These do taste like a muffin more than a classic pancake. But if you want you can serve with syrup if you want to add more sweetness to the muffins.
  • Things to Make With Pancake Mix – Want to go beyond these muffins? Here are a couple more recipes using pancake mix to consider. Sausage balls use Bisquick, chocolate chip coffee cake, or raspberry cinnamon rolls with pancake mix.

Grab my Free Kitchen Conversions Printable! This shows you how many cups are in a quart, pint, etc. It’s a great printable to keep handy for when you need to convert a recipe.

Storing

Here is how your store the pancake mix muffins once they are baked and cooled down.

Refrigerate

I recommend refrigerating these muffins after they have cooled down. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Then eat cold or warm up in the microwave.

Freezer

This is a great breakfast freezer recipe. Whip up these blueberry muffins with pancake mix and then once baked and cooled, then place them in a freezer bag or container.

Instant Pot Lemon Poppy Seed Cake is the ULTIMATE Instant Pot Cake. If you are a fan of lemon you will swoon over this bright and citrus filled lemon cake that is bursting with flavor.

instant pot cake recipe

Instant Pot Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

Instant Pot lemon cake is one recipe I was dying to make. While I couldn’t find a recipe, I decided to create my own. This pressure cooker lemon cake is one you will make over and over again. Instant pot desserts are one of my favorite things to cook in my Instant Pot!

Here are more lemon recipes

Moist Lemon Cake

Skip the lemon cake mix, and whip up a cake that is vibrant and full of lemon citrus flavor in each bite. This Instant Pot cake is super moist! Granted it is a thinner cake, but you could always make two cakes and make it a layered cake.

It packs tons of flavor, so I am fine with it being smaller. I used confectioner’s sugar and a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice to achieve the perfect lemon flavor, and I skipped the classic frosting on this cake.

Can I Make Cake In My Instant Pot

I hear this a lot, and the answer is yes! You can make a cake in your Instant Pot.

I will share how I made this recipe below, but also you can check out my Instant Pot Nutella Cake or my Instant pot chocolate cake as well!

What Is The Cake Setting On Instant Pot

I used the classic High-Pressure setting for making my cake in the Instant Pot. I baked this lemon cake for 25 minutes, then let it sit for 15 minutes with a natural release. Follow the cooking time, and make sure you seal your Instant Pot properly so it comes to pressure and cooks the cake.

You can easily grab a bundt cake and turn it into an Instant Pot lemon bundt cake, which will offer stunning presentation.

How To Make Instant Pot Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

Start by lining your Instant Pot Cake Pan with a piece of parchment paper on the bottom along with spritzing with cooking spray.

Then you will mix up your dry ingredients in one bowl, and mix wet ingredients in another. Incorporate the two, and then pour into a cake pan, and then pour 1/2 cup water into your pot.

Add your silicone sling and set the cake in, and seal and cook on high pressure for 25 minutes with a natural release for 15 minutes.

Allow to cool then mix up your lemon glaze and pour over the top of the cake!

Lemon Glaze For Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

I wanted to create a simple 2-ingredient lemon glaze. Powdered sugar and lemon juice are what you will use.

Create a creamy base, and then pour it over your decadent lemon poppyseed cake! It adds even more lemon flavor in each bite.

I added a bit of lemon zest on top for a pop of color and more lemon flavor.

How To Store Lemon Poppy Seed Cake With Lemon Glaze

You will want to store your leftover lemon cake with the lemon glaze in the fridge.

Your cake will store for 3-5 days. Of course, this cake-like any other flavor is best when served within the first few days.

If you don’t want to make the lemon glaze you are more than welcome to keep it off if you prefer.

  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest I did zest from 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup lemon juice about 1 full lemon
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds

Lemon Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  • Spray your instant pot cake pan with cooking spray, and line with parchment paper on the bottom.
  • In a bowl Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder in a bowl and set aside.
  • Now in a new bowl you will add in your butter, sugar, lemon juice, zest, sour cream, and egg. Whip the lemon cake batter until creamy.
  • Then add dry ingredients to your wet ingredients stirring with a whisk.
  • Pour your cake batter into your cake pan, and then place it in the rubber sling.
  • Add ½ cup water into pressure cooker. Then place your cake into the Instant Pot.
  • Place Instant Pot lid on, and make sure the valve is sealed. You will then cook high pressure 25 minutes. Then allow it to natural release for 15 minutes, and then release any leftover pressure and remove cake.
  • I placed the lemon poppy seed cake on a cooling rack to cool.
  • Now you will mix the 1 cup of powdered sugar in a bowl and slowly add in a little lemon juice at a time. You might not use it all. You want it to be a thicker glaze.
  • When lemon cake is cooled, pour the glaze over the top.

Kick off game day with the cutest (and easiest) sweet treat ever — Chocolate Covered Strawberry Footballs! Juicy fresh strawberries dipped in rich chocolate and decorated to look like mini footballs make the perfect no-bake dessert for football parties, Super Bowl snacks, or tailgating spreads. They’re fun to make, crowd-pleasing, and a lighter alternative to traditional game-day desserts everyone will reach for.

Chocolate-dipped strawberries are a weakness of mine. Add on a football lace design, and you have a football-shaped dessert to nibble on as you cheer on your favorite team.

platter with chocolate strawberries with bite taken it out

This is a super simple but fun game day dessert you got to try. I am no pro at working with chocolate, but these berries were pretty easy to make.

Why Make These Dipped Strawberries

Easy – This is a fun game day treat that you can throw together. It’s simple to do but the presentation value is awesome!

Gourmet Strawberries – Skip the expensive berries and make them yourself. Serve up gourmet strawberries without the hefty price tag.

3 Ingredients – You just need 3 ingredients to make this super bowl dessert! It’s so fun and affordable.

Football Food – This is a great dipped strawberry recipe for a football party or football birthday theme! Any game day lover will enjoy biting into this sweet treat.

strawberries and chocolate melts in bowls on white table

Ingredients You Need

Strawberries – Fresh strawberries are best. You can buy regular size or reach for gourmet straw west size if your store has any.

White Chocolate – I used Ghirardelli white chocolate wafers for drawing on the football laces.

Dark Chocolate – You either need melting chocolate or you need to temper your chocolate. I used Ghirardelli dark chocolate wafers. I melted down.

Tools That Are Helpful

  • Microwave Safe Bowl – You can melt your candy melts in the microwave.
  • Parchment Paper – to prevent chocolate from sticking once you dip.
  • Squeeze Bottle – I used this to draw on the football laces. You could use a piping bag as well.

Substitute and Additions

  • You can use your favorite teams color of chocolate. Dip in one color, and then for the lace do a white or another color.
  • Add on some team color sprinkles.
  • You can dip apples, other berries, etc. as well.
  • Use chocolate chips instead of chocolate wafer melts. If you do chocolate chips add a teaspoon of shortening to allow the chocolate to harden.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Footballs

Step 1: First you will want to melt your milk or dark chocolate wafers in the microwave.

dipped strawberries on parchment paper

Step 2: Next, you will dip your berries in the chocolate. I hold on to the stem then roll the strawberries in the chocolate coating all areas. Then shake off excess.

Steps 3: Let the chocolate harden on the strawberries. This takes around 5 minutes. In a microwave safe bowl or the squirt bottle add chocolate and melt. Stir in between 20 second heat cycles till melted.

strawberry with white chocolate line down center of dipped chocolate

Step 4: Then draw a line down the middle with 2-3 lines going across to be like a football lace. Then let the chocolate covered strawberry design harden then serve.

Storage Of Berries

Your strawberries will store for 1-2 days in the fridge. The strawberries will release juice, and leak out a bit the longer they sit. I recommend making these only up to 24 hours in advance. But they are best made and served only a few hours in advance.

Freezing berries can work but the texture of the strawberry will be totally different. If you do freeze they would just be for snacking on, it wouldn’t be good for serving up to guests.

Expert Tips

  • When you draw on the white lines, make sure the chocolate isn’t too hot. If it is it will be a lot more liquidy and run a bit. Letting it set up slightly before you pipe.
  • You can use a piping bag to draw on the lace of the football if you want. My bottle had a bit of a larger tip so the look isn’t perfect.
  • It is okay if your berries are not perfect. It adds a personal touch and is still so much fun.

  • Shake off the excess chocolate and then place the berry on parchment paper to set up. Repeat the process till all the strawberries have been dipped in the dark chocolate.
  • Next, once your chocolate is hardened, you will work on the white chocolate. Melt your chocolate in the microwave again. I placed my chocolate in the squirt bottle then stirred and heated till fully melted.
  • Let the chocolate cool a bit, if it is too hot the chocolate will run a lot. Then you will draw a straight line down the center of the berries. Then create 2-3 stripes across the berry to mimic football laces.
  • Once all your white chocolate is on the berries, you will then plate up the football strawberries and serve or refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

Notes

Chocolate For Melting – You can use almond bark or candy melts. If you use chocolate chips you need to add 1 teaspoon of shortening to the chocolate. Or temper your chocolate so the chocolate hardens.
Color of Chocolate – So you can get creative and use all different colors of chocolate. If you are rooting for Kansas City Chief do a yellow dipped strawberry with red laces. Or swap any colors you want to fit your teams colors.
Storing – These strawberries will store for 1-2 days in the fridge. After that the berries will break down a lot and release a lot more juices.

Christmas pretzels that are stuffed with caramel and drizzled with chocolate. A simple snack or holiday gift idea to stuff inside a Christmas tin. These caramel-stuffed pretzels take no time to make, and they are festive and tasty.

These sweet and salty Christmas pretzels are one of the most requested holiday treats I make every year because they’re fast, festive, and absolutely foolproof.

A sweet and salty Christmas treat that leaves you wanting one more bite. Give this easy caramel-stuffed Christmas pretzel recipe a try. Pair with a warm cup of hot chocolate. Try out this easy butterscotch fudge for an easy no-bake treat.

Pretzels, caramels, melting chocolate and sprinkles. Simple, tasty, and one dessert that screams the holiday season. I love white chocolate dipped pretzels. This recipe is easier as you are drizzling the chocolate on top.

Why You’ll Love These Christmas Pretzels

These chocolate-covered Christmas pretzels come together in under 30 minutes and require zero baking, making them ideal for last-minute holiday entertaining, teacher gifts, and cookie exchanges.

Last Minute Recipe – These holiday pretzels can be made in no time. Assemble and bake for 5 minutes, then drizzle with melted chocolate. That is all it takes!

Simple Ingredients – A Christmas candy that uses simple ingredients. No need to search for tough-to-find ingredients. Use everyday ingredients you can grab at your local store.

Christmas Candy Tin – This is a great addition to your Christmas candy tin for gifts to loved ones.

Festive Colors – The white chocolate and red candy melts help elevate the candy’s color. Then you will add Christmas sprinkles for a more pop of color.

Simple Ingredients You’ll Need

Pretzels – Use any shape of pretzels you want. I used a classic pretzel but pretzel squares, circles, and more work great.

Caramels – I used a classic caramel you unwrap. I then cut them in half and used half of a caramel for each pretzel. One full caramel seemed too much.

Chocolate – White chocolate and candy melts that were red are what I used. You can even use a green candy melts if you want.

Sprinkles – Festive Christmas sprinkles really throw these Christmas chocolate-covered pretzels the perfect look!

I got a few more treats to try this holiday season: White Chocolate Fudge, Christmas Oreo Truffles, or Grinch Hot Chocolate.

How to Make Christmas Pretzels (Step-by-Step)

This pretzel recipe is also a great beginner-friendly holiday treat for kids because there’s no oven required and the decorating step is fun and flexible.

caramel pretzels on an aluminum foil tray

Step One: Place your pretzels out on a baking sheet in a single layer. Leave a little space between each.

Step Two: Slice caramels in half. Then place half a caramel on each pretzel.

Step Three: Cook in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 3-5 minutes. You just want the caramel to soften just a bit.

caramel stuffed pretzels on baking tray

Step Four: Remove from oven and carefully top with the other pretzel, smashing the caramel.

Step Five: Now melt your white chocolate then drizzle over the top of the pretzels. Then repeat with the red candy melts.

chocolate pretzels on tray

Step Six: Add Christmas sprinkles if you want, and then let set up.

Once pretzels are set up, serve and enjoy this simple and easy chocolate covered pretzel!

Decorating Tips for Perfect Holiday Pretzels

  • Use a Rolo (chocolate-covered caramels) instead of a classic caramel.
  • Any shape of the pretzel works as long as not hollow in the center.
  • Quality chocolate is going to give you the best flavor.
  • You heat the pretzels up enough to get the caramel to melt. Once caramel is melted you can pull from the oven.
  • Drizzle on the chocolate however you want. I did just a bunch all over, but you can do any design you want.
  • Break apart the pretzels if stuck with chocolate once the chocolate sets up, and then serve.

Christmas Pretzels FAQ

Storage & Make-Ahead Tips

Once the chocolate has fully set, store your Christmas pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. If your kitchen runs warm, you can refrigerate them to prevent the chocolate from softening—just let them sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes before serving for the best texture.

These pretzels are also perfect for making ahead. You can prepare them up to 7 days in advance for parties or gifting. Layer them between sheets of parchment paper to prevent sticking and store in a cool, dry place until ready to use.

Christmas Pretzels for Gifting

These Christmas pretzels make some of the easiest and most affordable homemade holiday gifts—perfect for teachers, neighbors, coworkers, and hostess gifts. Since they’re no-bake and hold up well at room temperature, you can make a large batch in one sitting and package them beautifully with minimal effort.

For gifting, place pretzels in:

  • Cellophane treat bags tied with ribbon
  • Small holiday tins
  • Clear plastic boxes for cookie trays

Add a simple gift tag and you have a festive, homemade present that looks store-bought but feels personal. If you’re building a holiday treat box, pair these pretzels with holiday snack mix, reindeer cookies, or my popular peanut butter balls for a complete sweet-and-salty combo your recipients will love.

Step 1: Slice and prep your apples. Place them in a bowl and mix with brown sugar, white sugar, and apple pie spice.

Step 2: Add butter to the skillet and melt, and then add your apples. Cook until apples are softened.

Step 3: Whisk together the cornstarch and apple cider, then stir it into the skillet.

Step 4: Allow to thicken. Once apples are tender and thickened, you can serve them up with ice cream, whipped cream, etc.

Expert Tips: If your apples are very thick‐sliced, give them an extra minute or two so each bite is tender.

🧈Storing

This spiced apple recipe is best when served fresh! They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.

You will find the baked apples will soften even more as they are stored in the refrigerator.

To reheat, warm gently on the stovetop or in the microwave until just bubbly — this helps maintain their shape and stops them from turning too runny.

🍽Expert Tips

  • Use a mix of apple varieties: a tart apple, such as Granny Smith or Cortland, and a sweeter one, like Golden Delicious or Fuji, for the best flavor.
  • If you don’t have apple pie spice, use ½ tsp cinnamon + ¼ tsp nutmeg — just as good.
  • Don’t overcrowd the skillet: leave enough space so the apples are in contact with the pan and can caramelize a little.
  • Serve hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for dessert, or alongside pancakes or waffles for a breakfast treat.
  • Want a savory twist? Try adding a pinch of sea salt or a splash of maple syrup before serving.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple pie spice
  • 3 apples mixture of sweet and tart (we used Cortland and Golden Delicious)
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider or more as needed
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  • Wash and slice your apples. If you want you can peel the apples. In a bowl, you will add your apple pie spice, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and sliced apples.
  • In a skillet or cast iron add butter to the pan. Heat on medium. Once butter is melted add apples.
  • Cook your apples in the mixture for a few minutes until your apples begin to soften. This all depends on how thick or thin you slice the apples.
  • Now you will add apple cider in a cup and then pour in the cornstarch. Stir well then pour into the apple mixture, until thickened.
  • Once apples reach the desired consistency serve and enjoy. This fried apple recipe is so simple.

Notes

I recommend using a tart than sweet apple so you get dimension. Make sure it is a baking apple that way it holds up as it is cooked on the stove. Otherwise, it can become mushy.
If you don’t want to use apple pie spice you can use just cinnamon and nutmeg to mix.
Double the recipe if you would like to serve a larger crowd.
Store leftover fried apples in the fridge for a few days. Know they will soften in texture once reheated.
Serve your fried apples alone, with ice cream, waffles, pancakes, etc. There are so many ways to enjoy these apples with other food, or serve with ice cream or whipped cream as a simple dessert.

Tips & Flavor Variations

Here are some tricks and tips for making this tik tok cinnamon roll dump cake recipe.

  • Use flavored cinnamon rolls, like pumpkin, for a fall twist of flavor.
  • Try swapping the walnuts for toasted pecans or adding a layer of apple pie filling for a fall twist that plays beautifully with the cinnamon roll base.
  • Any canned cinnamon rolls work. I used Pillsbury’s Grand Cinnamon Rolls.
  • Feel free to skip the walnuts if you prefer, or substitute them with pecans if you’d like.
  • I do recommend using the Krusteez Cinnamon Swirl instead of other cakes. You could substitute a spice cake if you prefer, instead of the cinnamon swirl.
  • The frosting on top is optional.
  • Add a layer of apple pie filling for an extra layer of sweetness to the cinnamon roll bake.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans Cinnamon Rolls I used cream cheese 5 count cans
  • 1 jar Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting 12 ounces
  • 1 Cinnamon Swirl Krusteez Cake Mix 21 ounce
  • 1/2 cup walnut
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter sliced thin

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then grease your 9×13 pan with cooking spray.
  • Dice up and place your cinnamon rolls in your baking dish. You can leave some rolls whole and dice up the rest to fill up the pan.
  • Warm up the frosting for 5-15 seconds in the microwave, remove the foil cover. Then stir and spread all over the cinnamon rolls.
  • Sprinkle on walnuts if you would like. Or skip if you don’t want nuts.
  • Dump the flour part of the cake mix on top of the cinnamon roll mixture.
  • Then slice the butter thin, and place all over the cake. Then sprinkle with the cinnamon mixture portion of the cake mix.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until done.
  • Once done you can take the frosting that came with the cinnamon rolls to drizzle over the top of the dump cake.
  • Spoon up and serve.

Notes

Cinnamon Rolls – Any brand works for this recipe. I used cream cheese rolls. A pumpkin roll would be delicious as well.
Cake Mix – So I used the Krusteez Cinnamon Swirl, if you can’t find you could use a spice cake to replace.
Nuts – Skip nuts or sprinkle them on. You could also swap the walnuts with crushed pecans as well.
Butter – Salted or unsalted work. The key is to just slice and top the whole cake. So as the butter melts it can add moisture to the dry cake and bake properly.
Canned Filling – Consider adding a layer of apple pie filling or even cherry on top of the cinnamon rolls before you do the frosting for added flavor.

If you’re looking for a dessert that looks like you spent hours in the kitchen—but secretly takes just minutes—you’re going to fall in love with this Heaven on Earth Cake. Layers of fluffy angel food cake, creamy vanilla pudding, cherry pie filling, and whipped topping come together in a trifle-style dessert that genuinely lives up to its name.

It’s the kind of recipe that disappears fast at potlucks, baby showers, or summer BBQs. And the best part? You can make it ahead of time and let the fridge do all the work.

This is a for sure crowd pleaser, and I love that it is an icebox cake. This refrigerator cake can be made in advance, making it convenient for summer cookouts, potlucks, and other gatherings. You may also know it by its alternative name, the cherry angel trifle dessert.

This Heaven On Earth Cake Is…

  • Layered Dessert
  • Perfect Harmony of Flavors
  • Easy No Bake Dessert
  • Delicious Layers of Angel Cake (angel food)
  • Heavenly Dessert
  • Easy Angel Food Cake Recipe
ingredients for angel food and pie filling cake

Ingredients You’ll Need

All of these ingredients come together for layers of texture and flavor — airy cake, tart cherries and creamy pudding. The no-bake approach keeps it simple.

Angel Food Cake – You can buy a store-bought angel food cake or bake angel food cake and allow it to fully cool. Box angel food cake is straightforward to make. I went ahead and bought a pre-made one to make it a no-bake.

Pie Filling – I used cherry pie filling for this heavenly recipe. It offers a sweet and tart component to help balance out the sweetness of all the layers.

Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix – For the pudding layer, use a vanilla pudding.

Sour Cream – The sour cream will be mixed with the pudding to add a hint of tanginess, which further enhances the flavor of the pudding layer.

Milk – You will need milk to mix with the vanilla pudding mix. Use as much milk as the box calls for.

Cool Whip – You can make homemade whipped cream or buy a container of store-bought. This is your ultra-creamy topping layer.

Recipe Variations

You can also try layering fresh fruit such as raspberries for summer, or add a sprinkling of toasted coconut on top for a tropical twist.

  • Use pound cake instead of angel food cake.
  • This recipe is great for any flavor of pie filling, such as lemon pie filling or blueberry. Feel free to use any flavor of pie filling you want.
  • Use plain Greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream.
  • Add some fresh fruit if you’d like. Dice up cherries and place in the center of the cake, or use them to garnish the cake.
  • Use a cheesecake pudding instead of the creamy vanilla pudding.
  • Top with 2-3 tablespoons of slivered almonds for a nice crunch component.
  • Etc.

How to Assemble the Cake

In the step-by-step, perhaps add a tiny extra tip: “After cubing the angel food cake, let it sit uncovered for a few minutes — this will help it absorb the pudding layer more evenly

overhead shot of angel food cake in pan

Step One: First step, start by taking your moist angel food cake and dicing it up into cubes. They don’t have to be perfect in size, just aim for bite size pieces.

Expert Tip: Use a serrated blade knife, it will slice through the angel food cake nicely without tearing up the cubed cake.

Step Two: Place the cubed angel food cake in the 8×8 cake pan for the bottom of pan. I did a little over half of the cake, and save the remaining cubed cake for the next layer.

overhead shot of cherries and angel food in pan

Take your cherry pie filling and spoon about 3/4th of the can and pour over the cake layer.

Step Three: Next combine your pudding mix with milk and sour cream. Then mix until thick and creamy. Pour the sour cream pudding mix on top of the cherry pie filling layer.

Step Four: Take the remaining half of cake cubes and place on top of pudding. Press down a little to make sure it gets in the pudding layer.

angel food cake and pie filling

Step Five: Add on the whipped cream in an even layer for the top of the cake. The for the remaining pie filling add it on top of the cool whip.

Step Six: Refrigerate this cake and then slice and serve! It will have a fluffy texture of cake paired with sweet creamy pudding, whipped cream and sweet cherries.

Recipe Notes:

If you make homemade cake make sure to allow your cake to fully cool. Or will will not set up properly as it will mess up the pudding and cool whip layer.

You can make a double batch and use a 9×13 pan instead. Just create the layers of cake, filling, pudding, and use your judgement on how much to add to each layer.

I recommend making this at least 4 hours in advance or even overnight, to ensure the pudding mixture sets up well.

Storing & Serving

For best flavor and texture, serve cold directly from the fridge. If you want a crustier topping, wait until just before serving to add a crunchy garnish such as toasted almonds

Refrigerate: Store your Heaven Cake in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the refrigerator. If you are going to add on the almond wait until you go to serve so they stay crunchy.

Freezing: I do recommend not freezing this dessert. The texture will change once it thaws from being frozen.

FAQs

Common questions about this cherry trifle-style cake dessert recipe.

Can I use homemade angel food cake instead of store-bought?

Yes — if you bake your own angel food cake, make sure it is fully cooled before cubing. A still-warm cake may result in the pudding layer becoming too loose.

What if someone in my group is dairy-free or gluten-free?\

You can adapt: use a gluten-free angel food or pound cake, and switch the pudding and whipped topping to dairy-free versions (such as coconut milk based). The layering concept stays the same.

Ingredients

  • 1 angel food cake pre-made or boxed angel food cake
  • 1 can 18 ounces cherry pie filling
  • 1 box 3.6 ounces instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 8 ounce tub of whipped cream (Cool Whip)

Instructions

  • First start by taking your angel food cake and with a serrated knife cut it into cubes. I did around 1-inch cubes.
  • Put half of the diced angel food cake in an 8×8 baking dish.
  • Then open your can of cherry pie filling and pour about 3/4 of the can on top of the angel food cake. Spread it out.
  • Next grab a bowl and add in the milk, pudding mix, and the sour cream. Whip it up until it begins to thicken. Then pour the sour cream pudding mixture over the cherry pie filling.
  • Next top with more of the angel food cake, using up the rest of it. It is okay if it doesn't fully cover the top. Press it down gently to kind of stick in the pudding.
  • Then spread your Cool Whip on top of the angel food cake, and spread to an even layer.
  • Take the remaining cherry pie filling and drop on top of the heaven on earth cake.
  • Cover and refrigerate at least 2-4 hours to allow the pudding mixture to set up. Then cut and serve up this easy dessert.

Notes

Pie Filling – You can use any flavor of pie filling you would like. Lemon, blueberry, strawberry, etc.
Refrigerating – Allowing your dessert to refrigerate helps to ensure that you get all the flavors paired as juices soak into cake. But also that the pudding sets up well.
Cake – If you don’t want to use angel food cake, consider using pound cake or regular white cake.

Ingredients Needed

Orange Jello – I used a box of orange Jell-O for the base of the Jell-O cups in the black layer.

Gelatin – Unflavored gelatin is going to be used for the white layer of the Jell-O cup.

Vodka – I used vodka for this, butyou can also consider a whipped cream vodka for even more flavor.

Simple Syrup – You can make simple syrup, or you can buy it in the cocktail ingredients section at the grocery store.

Sweetened Condensed Milk – This adds incredible sweetness to the jello shot recipe.

Black Food Coloring – This is going to give you the black color to the layer. I love it —it gives it a black-magic jello shot look.

Green Sprinkles – I used round green sprinkles for topping my shots. This is going to give you that Beetlejuice look to the shot.

How to Make

Full directions on how to make these Halloween jello shots is in the printable recipe card below. This is a quick visual walk through on how it is made.

beetlejuice halloween shots collage on how to make

Step One: Place your Jello cups on a lined tray, I used 10 Jello cups.

Step Two: Now you will work on your black Jello. In a pot bring 1 cup of water to a boil.

Step Three: Once the water is boiling remove from heat, and pour in the orange jello. Mix until it is fully dissolved, this takes 2-3 minutes.

Step Four: Next add in the vodka, and 1/2 cup cold water. Stir in the black food dye and whisk to combine.

Step Five: Pour the black jello and pour one quarter of it in each cup. Refrigerate 30 minutes.

Step Six: Work on the white layer of jello once the black jello is set for 30 minutes. Heat up the boiling water, and mix in the unflavored jello. Then stir in the simple syrup, condensed milk, and cold water.

collage of how to make a Halloween jello shot

Step Seven: Add in the vodka and once mixed pour on top of the black layer. Do 1/2 way up the cup.

Step Eight: Refrigerate again for 30 minutes, then add the next layer of black, then another layer of white.

Step Nine: Right before serving, top with the lime green sprinkles and enjoy.

Storage & Make-Ahead Tips

You will want to store your plastic cups with the lids on in the fridge. I do recommend not adding on the sprinkles until right before serving as it will bleed a bit of the color as it sits in the fridge.

You can make these up a day or two before your next party if you want. These jello shots store for 3-4 days in the fridge. The perfect boozy Halloween tasty jello shots recipe.

  • Don’t add sprinkles until just before serving to avoid colour bleed.
  • Make ahead: you can prepare the cups a day or two in advance — just top with sprinkles at event time.
  • Transport tip: place the shot cups in a muffin tin or shallow tray to avoid tipping during travel.

Variations and Tips

  • Flavor swap: Use cherry, grape, lime, or any flavored jello instead of orange — just match your color theme.
  • Glow-in-the-dark version: For a real party wow, use tonic water (quinine glows under black light) in place of cold water for the white layer. Feast + West+1
  • Different colour scheme: Skip black and white, go for purple & green, or candy-corn stripes (orange/yellow/white) for a different Halloween look.
  • Top with fun garnishes: Gummy worms, eyeballs, black sanding sugar, mini bats or spiders to match your party theme.
  • Kid-friendly: Omit the vodka entirely and replace with chilled orange soda or tonic water for a fun, non-alcoholic version.
  • Vegan/gelatin-free adaptation: Use agar-agar instead of gelatin (adjust ratio) for vegetarian/vegan-friendly.

  • Next, you will repeat another layer of black and white so there are 4 layers total. Then right before serving top with green sprinkles and serve the Halloween jello shots.

Notes

Flavor of Jello – I used orange jello flavor but you can use any flavor of jello you want.
Alcohol – You could swap vodka with rum or even another type of alcohol if you want.

This fried chicken ice cream dessert looks like chicken but tastes like vanilla + crunch. A fun, no‑bake treat you can easily make at home — no traveling, no crazy cost. Make it at home, and devour every single morsel.

a chicken drumstick ice cream bar with bite taken out being held in a persons hand above wooden table

Why This Exists (and Thrives on TikTok)

I first saw this in a scroll‑stopping video and was obsessed — so I had to recreate it (and make it better). What started as a viral gimmick became one of my favorite no‑bake tricks.

Ice cream that looks like fried chicken but tastes like a vanilla ice cream, white chocolate, and coated in cornflakes, with a Twix candy bar center to mimic the bone. An ice cream creation that is winning over the world. An affordable dupe for the Life Raft Treat flavor. No expensive price tag or shipping required.

This is a “not fried chicken” ice cream treat. This is an ice cream treat that mimics the look of a fried chicken leg. These can be purchased for $100 for 8, now you can make them easily at home for a fraction of the price. Try my Oreo dessert for another no bake treat.

What Actually Is It?

It’s a dessert that tricks your brain — looks like fried chicken but tastes like creamy vanilla + crunch. It’s part prank dessert, part optical illusion — and 100% delicious.

This Ice Cream Treat Is…

  • Made to resemble a fried chicken leg, but it’s ice cream.
  • Creamy, crunchy, sweet, and a fun optical illusion dessert that will leave your guests wondering if it’s ice cream or chicken.
  • A no-bake dessert that takes minimal effort to make.
  • Inspired by Life Raft Treats. But made with a fraction of the price.
  • TikTok Viral dessert recipe.

cornflaked crushed in a bowl, white chocolate chips in a bowl, twix candy bars on table and ice cream scooped in a bowl

What to Expect In A Bite

Ice Cream – Any ice cream, quality vanilla ice cream is best.

Twix – Mini Twix Bars or other smaller stick-style chocolates.

White Chocolate – I used white chocolate chips, but even white melting chocolate wafers work.

Corn Flakes – Crushed finely to mimic the breading of fried chicken.

Step By Step

Full steps and measurements are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a visual walk through.

ice cream on cutting board with Twix bars by it and scoops of ice cream in a bowl above it on counter
  1. Begin by placing the cold ice cream in a large bowl. Prepare a cutting board or clean surface to place the ice cream on, which can then go in the freezer.
  2. Put on your gloves and have the Twix bars ready to use. Take a handful of ice cream and flatten it in your palm. Place a Twix bar in the center and add more ice cream on top.

  1. Mold the ice cream around the Twix bar to create a chicken drumstick shape. Work quickly to prevent the ice cream from melting and your hands from getting cold.
  2. Once you have the desired shape, place the ice cream drumstick on the cutting board. You can use a spoon to smooth and shape it further while it’s on the board.

  1. Repeat this process with the remaining ice cream and Twix bars.
  2. Once all the drumsticks are complete, place the platter in the freezer for two hours.
  3. About 30 minutes before the two hours are up, melt the white chocolate in the microwave at 30-second intervals until smooth.
  4. Crush the cornflakes into small pieces.
  5. Once your station is prepared, remove the ice cream drumsticks from the freezer.

Pro Tips Before Digging In

Here are some tips for making fried chicken-shaped ice cream chicken legs:

Use a cold bowl to store the ice cream and keep it as cold as possible while shaping it. You can even put the bowl in the freezer for a few minutes before you start.

Work quickly and use gloves to prevent the ice cream from melting and your hands from getting too cold.

Flatten the ice cream in your hand and use your fingers to create a cavity in the center where you can place the Twix bar.

Use your fingers to mold the ice cream around the Twix bar and shape it into a chicken drumstick. Keep the shape uniform and smooth.

Use a spoon to smooth and shape the ice cream as needed while it’s on the cutting board.

Once you have created the desired shape, place the drumstick on the platter and work on the next one.

When dipping the ice cream in white chocolate and corn flakes, use a fork to hold the drumstick and gently shake off any excess coating.

If you’re having trouble keeping the ice cream cold while working, you can put the platter in the freezer for a few minutes in between shaping and coating the drumsticks.

Serve the ice cream chicken legs immediately after removing them from the freezer to prevent melting.

Storing

These “Not” fried chicken ice cream treats need to be eaten after you make them. If you don’t plan to eat right away, place it on a tray and put it back in the freezer for 1-2 hours. Once nice and frozen, transfer to a freezer-friendly container.

You will find as time goes the cornflakes lose that “crunch” as it sits in the freezer. These are best served after you’ve made them. But they will freeze for up to a month.

FAQs

Does it contain chicken?

Ho, this frozen fried chicken ice cream has zero chicken in it. It mimics the look of fried chicken drumsticks, but it has no actual chicken. It is molded and shaped ice cream coated in cornflakes to look like breading.

What does fried chicken ice cream taste like?

While it looks like fried chicken, it is truly a sweet and creamy vanilla ice cream, Twix candy bar, and crunchy cereal coating. A delicious and easy ice cream dessert.

How much is fried chicken ice cream?

This incredible ice cream treat is going for around $100 for 8 chicken leg ice creams. Now you can make them at home for a fraction of the price.

Can I use something besides cornflakes?

Crushed graham crackers, pretzels, and vanilla wafer cookies all work great. If you did pretzels, it would be a sweet and salty vibe, which would be tasty as well. Have fun and get creative with how to coat.

What kind of ice cream works best?

Reach for a firm ice cream; that way, you can help shape the ice cream into the drumstick shape. You can use any flavor of ice cream you would like. Ice cream, chocolate, or even a peanut butter ice cream.

Can I make these dairy‑free or vegan?

Yes! Use a firm, plant‑based vanilla ice cream and vegan white chocolate (or coconut bark). The process is exactly the same — you’ll still get that awesome look and crunch.

Can I prep ahead for a party?

Absolutely! You can shape and freeze the drumsticks partially the day before. But do the white chocolate + cornflake coating 30–60 minutes before serving to preserve the crunch.

  • Once finished, place the platter back in the freezer for another two hours.
  • When ready to eat, remove the drumsticks from the freezer and enjoy this unique and delicious dessert!

Notes

Ice Cream – Quality ice cream is going to give you the best flavor. Now aim for vanilla as it let you see the “chocolate” bone in the center as you bite into it. But know any flavor of ice cream works.
Crispy Coating – Cornflakes were used but you can swap for crushed pretzels, vanilla wafer cookies, graham cracker crumbs, etc.
Gloves – The ice cream is cold and it works best to wear gloves as you are going to be shaping the ice cream with your hands.
Freezing Ice Cream – Don’t skip freezing between prep cycles. Dipping a hard frozen ice cream in melted chocolate is a must, otherwise it will melt and lose shape.

As a single mom to one amazing (and always hungry) boy, I know the value of a dessert that’s quick, cozy, and guaranteed to bring everyone to the table with a smile. This Salted Caramel Cookie Skillet is one of our absolute favorites—and trust me, it never lasts long in our small-town kitchen.

Salted Caramel Cookie Skillet on the table with a scoop of ice cream and caramel sauce on top

It’s loaded with crunchy toffee bits, salty pretzels, creamy white chocolate chunks, and just a hint of almond extract for that extra little something. Topped with ice cream and a generous drizzle of caramel, it’s the perfect treat for everything from quiet Friday nights to last-minute guests.

I love to have a sweet treat to serve up to my son or friends, but I need recipes that are quick to make, as I don’t have a ton of time in the kitchen these days. Traveling for football for my son keeps me pretty busy.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Sweet & salty heaven – The perfect balance in every bite.
  • Soft, gooey, and golden – Just the right texture with crispy edges.
  • Crowd-pleaser – Whether it’s just you and the kids or a whole house, it hits the spot.
  • Easy to make – No fancy mixers or chill time needed.
  • Perfect for any occasion – Great for holidays, birthdays, or “just because.”

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Butter
  • Brown Sugar
  • White Sugar
  • Salt
  • Egg
  • Almond Extract (or vanilla if you prefer)
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Baking Soda
  • Toffee Bits
  • White Chocolate Chunks
  • Pretzels (crushed)

Step 1: Make the Dough

Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, mix the butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and salt until smooth.

Whisk in the egg and almond extract until creamy. Then, gently fold in the baking soda and flour until a soft dough forms.

Stir in the toffee bits, white chocolate chunks, and crushed pretzels. (This is my son’s favorite part—we sneak a few bites before it hits the skillet!)

Step 2: Bake It

Lightly press the dough into a cast iron skillet. Sprinkle a few extra white chocolate pieces and pretzel bits on top. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and just set in the center.

Step 3: Serve Warm

Top with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzle with caramel sauce, and enjoy while it’s warm and gooey!

Mom Tip:

Make this on a Sunday night for a cozy movie treat. It makes the weekend feel extra special—and the leftovers (if there are any!) are a sweet surprise in the lunchbox.

close up of a cast iron with Salted Caramel Cookie Skillet in it topped with ice cream and caramel sauce

Can I swap out the candy mix-ins?

Absolutely! Try chopped Snickers, Heath Bars, or even Reese’s for a fun twist. Just use what you’ve got in the pantry—no trip to the store needed!

How do I store leftovers?

If you skip the ice cream topping, you can cover the skillet tightly and keep it at room temperature for up to 4 days. Reheat slices in the microwave for that fresh-from-the-oven feel.

Life in a small town means you learn to make your own magic—especially in the kitchen. Whether it’s a simple Tuesday or a special celebration, this Salted Caramel Cookie Skillet is a little slice of comfort I’m so happy to share with you. From my home to yours—enjoy!

These raspberry crumble bars are a decadent layered raspberry crumb bar that is buttery and melts in your mouth. Made with a fresh raspberry layer, buttery shortbread base, and then drizzled with white chocolate.

You will use real butter in this dessert bar, as it will create a rich, decadent flavor and balance out the sweetness of the raspberry filling. Grab a container of fresh raspberries and get to baking. Head over and check out my cast-iron skillet cookie for another sweet treat.

Clay, my son, loves to help me in the kitchen. I have a few more tasty bar recipes you might want to try out. Check out my layered cookie dough monster cookie bars, sheet pan cookie bars, or even this pecan pie bar recipe.

This Raspberry Crumble Bar Recipe Is…

  • Made with real raspberries. You can use fresh or frozen berries. We love using fresh berries.
  • A buttery cookie base that complements the sweet and tart raspberries.
  • Easy steps to make these bars.
  • Great for making ahead of time for parties, potlucks, and more.
all the ingredients for Raspberry Crumble Bars spread out on table in single serve containers

Ingredients You Will Need

  • Butter – Real butter that is softened and unsalted.
  • Sugar – Granulated sugar.
  • Vanilla – A splash balances out the tart and sweet.
  • Egg – Large, room temperature egg.
  • Flour – All-purpose flour. Measure properly.
  • Baking Soda – The leavening agent.
  • Raspberries – Fresh and ripe.
  • Lemon – Fresh-squeezed lemon juice.
  • Cornstarch – Thickens up the raspberry filling.
  • White Chocolate – Melt and drizzle over bars.

How to Make

  1. In a bowl, add the berries, sugar, vanilla, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mash the berries until it is mashed evenly.
  2. In a new bowl, you will cream the butter and sugar. Then add in the vanilla, eggs, flour, and baking soda.
  3. Place half the mixture in the dish. Spread into an even layer.
  4. Then, spread the raspberry filling in an even layer.
  5. Top with the other part of the crumble.
  6. Bake as directed in the recipe card that is featured at the bottom of the post.
  7. Once the bars are done, let them cool a bit. Then melt the white chocolate as directed and drizzle over the top of the bars.
Sliced Raspberry Crumble Bars spread out on marble counter with fresh raspberries around the bars and chopped white chocolate

Tips for Success

  • Reach for ripe raspberries. If you don’t have ripe berries, it will create a sour flavor. Ripe berries will enhance the sweetness.
  • The cornstarch will help the raspberry mixture thicken. You could also use tapioca starch if you would prefer.
  • When you place the first shortbread layer, ensure that it creates an even layer. I used my fingers to press it into the pan. You could also use the back of a measuring cup for pressing.
  • Don’t overbake the bars, or they will dry out the shortbread quickly.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before you drizzle on the white chocolate.

How to Store

Refrigerate – Make sure you refrigerate any of the raspberry crumble bars in the fridge. Place in a sealed container for 3-4 days. You will find that the raspberry bars will dry out as they are in the refrigerator.

Freezer – Feel free to slice and freeze the bars in a sealed container or freezer bag. Freeze for 2-3 months. Then thaw in the fridge overnight.

FAQs

Can I make raspberry bars ahead of time?

You can make these raspberry bars ahead of time and store them in the fridge in a sealed container. You can enjoy these crumble bars straight from the refrigerator.

How can I make the bars gluten-free?

Yes, reach for a gluten-free flour blend as a substitute for all-purpose flour. It will alter the texture of the bars slightly, but they will still be tasty.

Can I use other fruits instead of raspberries?

Feel free to add different fruits if you’d like, or pair it with another fruit of your choice. Peaches, strawberries, and blueberries would all be great for planning.

Can I use frozen raspberries instead of fresh ones?

Absolutely. Just make sure to thaw the raspberries first, and then mash and mix in the ingredients.

I hope you all enjoy these raspberry crumble bars as my son, Clay, and I do. These are a real treat and great for an after-school snack or even an evening dessert.

How to Make

steps on how to make halloween cupcakes in a collage

Step 1: Start by preheating the oven and place liners in the cupcake pan. Then mix up the cake mix and add in the 1 teaspoon of vanilla to the cake mix. This dresses up the flavor.

Step 2: Pour the batter into the cupcake tin around 3/4 the way full. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the cupcakes are done. Let cool completely.

Step 3: Work on making your Frankenstein Rice Krispies, directions are here.

Step 4: Once cupcakes are cooled work on the buttercream frosting. Beat butter on medium heat with a hand mixer, until fluffy.

Work in the powdered sugar, a little at a time. Then add in the vanilla and milk, to thin out the frosting.

Add in the neon purple food coloring. I did 2 drops of the Neon purple. Beat for 5 minutes until super silky.

Place the frosting in a piping bag, with a 1M or 2D piping tip.

How to Assemble Halloween Cupcakes

Expert Tips

Helpful tips for DIY Halloween cupcakes and Halloween cupcake decorations tricks.

  • You want 3 layers of cupcakes in each jar, with a layer of frosting in between.
  • Top your cupcakes with a store bought treat if you don’t want to make the Frankenstein.
  • Use even pressure when you make the circle of frosting between the layers.
  • Gently sit the cupcake on top of the frosting, try not to push down and smoosh the frosting.
  • Add Halloween sprinkles in the layers of cake and frosting if you want added texture and color.
  • Store these cupcakes in an airtight container until ready to serve, so you don’t dry out the cupcakes.

Variations To Recipe

Recipe FAQs For This Monster Jar Dessert

Here are a few helpful tips for these silly, scary monster jar desserts! A simple Frankenstein cupcake recipe.

How long to bake cupcakes at 350 degrees?

I baked my cupcakes at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes. You can stick a toothpick in the center of the cupcake to feel if they are baked. No wet batter will be on the toothpick when you pull it out.

Can you freeze cupcakes?

Go right ahead and freeze the cupcakes if you want. You can freeze them before you slice and assemble them in a jar. Or after, just place lid on the jar and leave of the Rice Krispies treat, or place the whole treat in an airtight container.
Cupcakes will freeze 3-4 months. Thaw in the fridge in an airtight container in the fridge.

Do you need to refrigerate buttercream frosting?

Buttercream frosting does need to be refrigerated, otherwise it will begin to break down.

  • 16 Frankenstein Rice Krispies tutorial Here

Cake Mix Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 drops Neon green gel food color

Buttercream frosting Ingredients

  • 2 cups butter softened
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-2 drops neon purple food coloring

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and line you cupcake pan with liners. Mix up the cupcake batter. Cake mix, water, egg, and vanilla. Then color with food coloring.
  • Pour the batter 3/4 the way full, and then bake 15-18 minutes until they are fully cooked. Then allow to cool on cooling rack until fully cooled.
  • While cupcakes are cooling I made the Frankenstein Rice Krispies treats.
  • Then in a bowl you will work on your buttercream. Beat your butter on medium speed for a few minutes until fluffy. Then slowly mix in the powdered sugar.
  • Add in the vanilla and milk and beat till it is incorporated. It takes around 2 minutes.
  • Add in the food coloring, and create the desired color you want. Then beat for 5 minutes or until super silky.
  • Put the frosting in a piping bag and then use a 1M or 2D piping tip.
  • To assemble the cupcakes, slice cupcakes in half. Place one half of the cupcake in a jar.
  • Squeeze a circle of frosting on top, and then add another half of cupcake, more frosting, then cupcake, and then top with frosting.
  • Stick your Frankenstein Rice Krispies pop in, and add sprinkles if you want.
  • Serve up these Frankenstein cupcakes in a jar!

Notes

  • I recommend using a piping bag as it allows more control than a Ziploc bag.
  • Color the cake mix and the frosting to your desired color. I prefer neon food coloring for this recipe.
  • Sprinkles are optional.
  • You want 3 layers of cupcake and 3 layers of frosting in each jar.
  • You can use homemade cake batter instead of boxed if you want.
  • Store in an airtight container until ready to serve.

Variations

  1. Tropical Twist:
    • Use pineapple juice or a blend of pineapple and orange juice for a more tropical flavor.
    • Add a ripe banana for extra creaminess and a hint of banana flavor.
  2. Citrus Medley:
    • Combine orange juice with other citrus juices like grapefruit, lemon, and lime for a tangy, citrus-packed smoothie.
  3. Creamsicle Float:
    • Instead of blending, scoop the ice cream into a glass and pour the mixed juices over it for a classic creamsicle float.
  4. Healthy Spin:
    • Substitute Greek yogurt for ice cream for a healthier, protein-rich version.
    • Add a handful of spinach or kale for added nutrients without altering the taste significantly.
  5. Spiced Orange Smoothie:
    • Add a pinch of cinnamon or a dash of nutmeg for a spiced twist.
    • Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon or grated orange zest for extra flavor.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Use Fresh Ingredients: Whenever possible, use fresh oranges and squeeze your own orange juice. It will taste fresher and more vibrant.
  2. Adjust Sweetness: Taste the smoothie before pouring and adjust the sweetness by adding a bit of honey, agave syrup, or maple syrup if needed.
  3. Ice Variation: For an even colder and thicker smoothie, use crushed ice or freeze the orange juice into ice cubes before blending.
  4. Dairy Options: You can use milk or cream, but consider using alternatives like almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk for a different flavor profile.
  5. Add Texture: For added texture and crunch, throw in a handful of crushed graham crackers or granola and blend briefly.
  6. Protein Boost: Incorporate a scoop of your favorite protein powder to make this smoothie a more substantial meal replacement.
  7. Zesty Garnish: Garnish with a twist of orange or lime zest for an extra burst of citrus aroma.
  8. Serve Chilled: Make sure your ingredients are well-chilled before blending. You can also chill the glasses in the freezer for an extra frosty presentation.
  9. Experiment: Feel free to experiment with other ingredients like a splash of vanilla-flavored vodka or rum for an adult version.
  10. Customize Serving Glasses: Try serving the smoothie in chilled mason jars or glasses with colorful straws for a fun and summery presentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use frozen orange juice?

To achieve the proper texture for the orange creamsicle shake, you need to use frozen orange juice concentrate. Additionally, frozen orange juice offers the best flavor.

Can I use flavored ice cream?

Yes, it’s fine to swap the vanilla ice cream. You could use strawberry or other fruit-flavored ice cream for a fun twist. Another option would be to use orange sherbet to get a strong orange flavor.

How can I make the orange creamsicle milkshake sweeter?

This drink has a vanilla shake base that is already quite sweet. Then, when you add the OJ, it becomes even sweeter. However, if you prefer even more sweetness, feel free to add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup or honey. You can also add sugar if you want. I wouldn’t add more than a couple of tablespoons of added sugar, so it’s not overwhelming.

Can I use coconut milk?

Sure! Please note that when using coconut milk, it’s best to opt for a full-fat version. Also, the orange creamsicle shake will take on a tropical flavor.

Ingredients You Will Need

Cupcakes—Choose any flavor, whether boxed, homemade, or bought from your favorite bakery.

Waffle Cones – I used waffle cones as they have a better shape than the sugar cones for making a tree shape.

Frosting: Homemade or store-bought works. If you buy store-bought frosting, you can color it green with food coloring.

Sprinkles—Sprinkles add a nice pop of color to your trees. You can also dust them with powdered sugar to mimic snow.

How to Make

Step One: If your ice cream cone is too large, cut off the end to cut the cone to make it smaller if you want.

I recommend using a serrated knife to cut down the ice cream cone.

cupcake iced with white frosting

Step Two: If your cupcakes are not frosted, frost them. I used white frosting to mimic snow. Add your colored frosting in a piping bag, and I used a 1M tip. I added a star and then made a circle around the star, creating a rosette.

Aim for steady and even pressure when you are working with the frosting.

tree cupcakes

Step Three: Place the ice cream cone on top of the cupcakes. Then, using green frosting, pipe stars all over the tree using a small tip.

Step Four: Decorate with sprinkles or powdered sugar and dust it into a strainer to make it look like snow.

Variations To Recipe

  • You can add a thin layer of frosting to cupcakes of a certain color. The frosting will ensure the ice cream cone sticks to the cupcake.
  • Use any technique you want for piping on your frosting on the cones. You can even spread it with a knife if you don’t want to pipe on frosting.
  • Another technique is to dip the ice cream cone in green chocolate and let it harden. Before it hardens, add on your sprinkles.

Storing Cupcakes

Room Temperature—As long as you use frosting that doesn’t need to be refrigerated, these cupcakes can be stored at room temperature. The Christmas tree dessert is best eaten within the first 1-2 days of being made.

Freezing: You can freeze cupcakes you don’t eat right away. It can soften the ice cream cone as it thaws from the freezer.

  • Green food coloring
  • Sprinkles
  • 6 Ice Cream Waffle Cones

Instructions

  • Start by cutting down your waffle cones if you want them to be shorter.
  • Add some white frosting in a piping bag and pipe a large star with a 1M tip. Then circle around the star to make a rosette, on the top of each cupcake.
  • Next, you will color your frosting that is left green and place in a piping bag.
  • Place your waffle cones on top of each cupcake.
  • Begin piping stars on each ice cream cone working your way up the cone. I like to start at the bottom.
  • Add on some sprinkles to look like Christmas lights if you want. Or you can even dust with powdered sugar in a sifter for a snow-themed cupcake.

Piping Star Tip: Use even pressure when squeezing out frosting. For avoiding the tails on the stars, squeeze, stop, and then pull away.
I used a larger star tip 1M for piping.
You can use a Ziploc bag instead of piping bag if you don't have piping bags.
Cupcakes – Any flavor or style of cupcakes work for this recipe. I used store bought cupcakes to make these tree cupcakes.

Caramel Apple Ingredients

  • Apples (any variety)
  • Caramels
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Heavy Cream
  • Toppings Of Choice

Toppings Ideas

Here are a few ways to add flavor to this perfect fall treat. Grab the sliced apples and get to creating a tasty masterpiece. Add apple slices to a popsicle or cake stick to make apple lollipops.

  • Peanut Butter or Nut Butter of Choice
  • Hazelnut Spread
  • Hot Fudge
  • Caramel Bits
  • Crushed Candy Bars
  • Chopped Nuts
  • Crushed Cookies
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Sprinkle of Sea Salt
  • Dehydrated Mini Marshmallows
  • Etc.

How To Make Caramel Apple Slices

Step 1: Cut the apples

Wash and dry apples with hot water. Then, cut them into wedges or flat discs. If you’d like to add a stick, go ahead and add the stick to each apple slice or wedge.

Step 2: Melt

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 30-second intervals and stir. When they are about 80 % melted, stir the rest of the way until smooth and creamy.

Then melt the caramels with heavy cream. Microwave for 15-second intervals and stir well. It melts fast, so keep that in mind.

Step 3: Drizzle or dip

I prefer to lay all the apple wedges out and drizzle the chocolate and caramel on top, but you can also dip it into the chocolate and caramel.

Step 4: Sprinkle

Add the toppings and let rest for 30 in the fridge. Serve right away and enjoy!

Methods For Prevent Apples From Browning

Apples brown quickly once they are sliced, and here is a magic trick to prevent those slices from browning so fast.

Lemon Juice

You can toss your sliced apples with some fresh or bottled lemon juice. Take one cup of water, add one tablespoon of lemon juice, toss with apples, and soak for 10 minutes. I have heard orange juice also works from the acid, but I have not tried that yet.

Salt Water

Add 1 cup of cold water, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and apples, and soak for 5 minutes. Rinse lightly and pat dry.

Lemon Lime Soda

Slice your apples and place them in a bowl with your lemon-lime soda. Let them soak for 5-10 minutes. Then, could you remove them and pat them dry.

Caramel Apple Slices Tips

  • Please don’t cut the apples too far in advance, or they will turn brown. Use one of the methods above to prevent the exposed apple from browning as quickly as possible. This is a great way to ensure serving these candy apples to a crowd won’t leave you with brown apples.
  • Watch the caramel when heating it because it can burn quickly. Use a safe bowl to heat in the microwave or stovetop, stirring often.
  • Add any toppings you like! After you place the apple on the parchment paper, decorate it with the toppings you want. You can also let it cool and then add a chocolate drizzle once the caramel sets a bit.
  • For best results, use fresh caramel that is not too chewy or stiff when melted. If you prefer, opt for a homemade caramel sauce for dipping. Just ensure it is thick enough to stick.

  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream add more cream for thinner caramel

Toppings

  • crushed butterfingers
  • oreos
  • m&ms
  • nuts
  • sprinkles

Instructions

  • Wash apples with hot water and dry them. Then cut the apples into wedges or flat discs. If you’d like to add a stick, go ahead and add the stick to each apple slice or wedge.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 30-second intervals and stir. When they are about 80 % melted, stir the rest of the way until smooth and creamy.
  • Then melt the caramels with heavy cream. Microwave for 15-second intervals and stir well. It melts fast, so keep that in mind.
  • I prefer to lay all the apple wedges out and drizzle the chocolate and caramel on top, but you can also dip it into the chocolate and caramel.
  • Add the toppings and let rest for 30 in the fridge. Serve right away and enjoy!

Notes

Any type of apple will work for this recipe.
You can use a pre-made caramel sauce if you don’t want to melt caramel.
Decorate any way you would like. Have fun and get creative.

These Thanksgiving donuts use store-bought donuts for a super quick throw-together breakfast. Give this Thanksgiving donut a try, and let me know.

Why Your Kids Will Love These Donuts

  • All pieces are edible – except the toothpicks. So they can nibble away on all the toppings.
  • You can use any flavor of store-bought donuts.
  • It’s fun to make if you want your kids to help.
  • Bright and colorful
  • Budget-friendly

Ingredients

Donuts – Mini donuts are what I used. But you are welcome to do full-size donuts, too.

Fruit Loops—I used fruit loops for the feathers. Any “o”-shaped breakfast cereal works, such as Cheerios, Apple Jacks, etc. You don’t have to use Fruit Loops cereal.

Candy Eyes – Find candy eyes in the baking aisle at your grocery store.

Toothpicks – You will use toothpicks to secure the feathers on the mini donuts.

How to Make

collage on how to make a donut look like a turkey

Step 1: Grab your ingredients and lay out your donuts. Then, with a toothpick string on a few fruit loops.

I did 5 per toothpick, but you can adjust to what fits.

Step 2: Stick each toothpick into the donut on one side. I did four toothpicks with cereal per mini donut.

collage on assembling turkey donuts

Step 3: Break a red or orange toothpick in half and use that for the turkey’s beak. Press it into the center of the donut’s front.

Step 4: Now press on two candy eyes.

Serve and enjoy!

Expert Tip: You can use frosting to secure the eyes and nose on. I just pushed them in to get them to stick on donuts.

Storage

You can make these donuts a day in advance. Store them in an airtight container on the counter.

These will dry out, so only 24 hours ahead of time. Then carefully plate the turkey-themed donuts and enjoy.

Helpful Tips and Variations

  •  The eyes and nose will come off easily. You can secure them on with frosting or even melted chocolate.
  • Use full-size donuts if you want. Just add more feathers to the back.
  • Feel free to make a rainbow color on each toothpick instead of a single layer of each color.
  • You can use white frosting and an upside-down mini chocolate chip for eyes instead of candy eyes.
  • Use an M&M in replace of the Fruit loop beak. Yellow or Orange works excellent.

German Chocolate Cake Balls are a tasty German chocolate dessert that will win over a crowd whether you are making these for a birthday bash, holiday event, or a weekend treat. Learn how to make this cake truffles recipe.

I have an easy German chocolate cake pops recipe that you all will love. I made a homemade German chocolate frosting recipe that makes these cake pops stand out. These bite-sized treats are a game changer and will quickly become your favorite dessert.

German chocolate cake bite on a small appetizer fork with a bite taken out of it

I am a massive fan of the flavors of German chocolate, including coconut flavors, nuts, a creamy base, and tender and light cake. I am a sucker for cake mix recipes, from easy cake mix cookies to dressing up desserts in a big way. Also, try my sugar cookie cake pops, a no-bake treat.

Whether you call these cake balls or German chocolate cake truffles, you will have a dessert that gets rave reviews. Grab those lollipop sticks and your German chocolate cake mix, and let’s get started on these German chocolate truffles.

Why Make These Cake Pops…

  • The cake pop recipe uses cake mix, so the ingredient list is short.
  • It is easy to make and offers a gorgeous presentation value.
  • This sweet treat is served in bite-sized pieces. For a cake pop-style treat, you can also add it to a lollipop stick.
  • Homemade German chocolate cake frosting recipe that takes these little ball bites to a new level of yum.
  • Great to serve up for kids and adults for birthday parties, holiday events, or a mid-week treat.

coconut pecan frosting

Ingredients Needed

  • Cake Mix + Ingredients on Box– I used a German chocolate cake mix, but you can use your favorite box of cake mix if you prefer.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk—This thick and sweet mixture will make the frosting for this cake ball recipe a hit.
  • Butter – Unsalted or salted butter works for this recipe.
  • Eggs – Large eggs that are at room temperature work best.
  • Coconut – Shredded coconut is the stand-out flavor of the German chocolate frosting.
  • Pecans—For the crunch of the German chocolate recipe, opt for unsalted chopped pecans.
  • Vanilla – A splash of vanilla will brighten up the frosting.
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips – You can use dark, semi-sweet, or even milk chocolate. I prefer semi-sweet for a more traditional flavor.
  • Crisco – This will help the chocolate set up and harden.

How to Make

Step 1: Bake your cake as directed on the box. Mix, pour, and bake.

german chocolate frosting

Step 2: In a saucepan on the stove, you will work on making the homemade coconut pecan frosting. Add butter, condensed milk, and egg yolks, stir, and cook until it thickens.

Make sure to stir the mixture to prevent burning constantly.

Step 3: Once thickened, remove from heat and toss in the vanilla, pecans, and coconut. Allow the frosting to cool for 30 minutes.

holding a cake pop

Step 4: When the cake has cooled, you will crumble it all up. Then, take the crumbled cake and mix in the frosting you made. Once mixed well, roll into small balls and place on parchment paper.

Step 5: Mix up your chocolate coating as directed and dip each ball in it. Top with coconut and pecans, and let the chocolate set.

Is It Easy To Make Coconut Pecan Frosting

Yes, the German chocolate frosting is easy. You do cook coconut pecan frosting on the stove to give it that creamy authentic German chocolate frosting. Then you mix the cake and frosting together to form that cake ball consistency you need to form the balls.

dipping cake ball in chocolate

What Type of Chocolate Do You Use To Dip Cake Pops In

For some recipes, you will see almond bark used. For this recipe, I went ahead and did semi-sweet chocolate. You can use whatever you prefer, I just find the semi-sweet chocolate really added a nice flavor to the pops.

Depending on how large or small you make your cake balls will depend. I was able to get 48 cake balls in this recipe. I layed them out on wax paper or you can use parchment paper after you dip them.

Grab my Free Kitchen Conversions Printable! This shows you how many cups are in a quart, pint, etc. It’s a great printable to keep handy for when you need to convert a recipe.

How Do You Get Even Looking Cake Pops

I use a cookie scoop. I find this is the best way to get that consistency in size. You can buy all different sizes of cookie scoops to fit your needs.

Storing

Store your cake bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. They can also be stored at room temperature for around two days, but refrigerating will extend their life.

You can also freeze any of the German cake bites. Freeze for 2-3 months in a freezer-friendly container or airtight plastic bag. Then thaw in the fridge or eat straight from the freezer.

TikTok did it again! Here’s the Fruit Roll-Up Ice Cream, a fruit roll-up filled and folded with vanilla ice cream. When you bite into this roll-up ice cream, it’s crunchy, sweet, and a magical pairing.

If you enjoy ice cream, then give this dessert hack a try. The tropical tie-dye and ice cream make the perfect treat. This viral food trend was first shown on the TikTok trend; let me say it is a favorite of mine. The flavor combination is a home run.

TikTok is well known for the viral recipes that have taken over the internet, such as not “fried” chicken ice cream, easy cinnamon rolls with heavy cream, and even tea bombs.

If you are craving cold ice cream on a hot day, head over to your favorite fruit roll-up and creamy ice cream and get to making! The first bite is the best!

I love this fruit roll-up hack recipe because of its vibrant colors, bold fruity flavor, and crunch when you bite into the fruit treat. The crunch factor is what wins people over! Frozen treats are our favorites at our house. The sweet flavor of the fruit roll-up is where it is at. You can also use fruit leather if you prefer. Try with Breyers mango ice cream for a tropical twist or any ice cream flavors that you enjoy, like strawberry, rainbow, etc.

  • Two ingredients are all you need for this dessert.
  • The roll-up gets a crunchy texture. So when you bite into the sandwich, it crunches.
  • All you need is just 2-3 minutes to make this dessert.
  • Kid-friendly and adult-approved!
  • You can use strawberry fruit roll-up, tie-dye, or any flavor you prefer. I just had the tie-dye on hand. But I love the strawberry with strawberry ice cream.
  • A fun food trend to try with your kiddo is to make a delicious treat that is fun and offers a different texture and great conversation on your thoughts on the treat.

Ingredients

  • Fruit Roll-Ups—This recipe works with any flavor of Fruit Roll-Ups. I used a rainbow style, so they were bright in color.
  • Ice Cream—Place vanilla ice cream in the center of these ice cream sandwiches. You can also use different flavors of ice cream or even Sherbert.

How to Make

The printable recipe card contains full instructions for making this Fruit Roll-up ice cream sandwich. This is a visual walkthrough. It is pretty easy to make, so I know you will do well.

  1. Unwrap and unroll your fruit strip. Then lay it flat on top of the plastic it came with.

  1. Flatten the ice cream out a bit, and then fold the edges over the ice cream.
  2. Eat right away.

Tips

Make sure to make and eat it right away. Otherwise, it will melt and become a mess. This dessert is made as you eat it.

You can use any type of ice cream you like. I used vanilla, but feel free to try a Sherbert.

The frozen texture hardens the ice cream and creates an incredible crunch. I was unsure if this TikTok dessert would actually work.

What Exactly Are These Sugar Cookie Bites?

These are Lofthouse sugar cookies blended with cream cheese and rolled into balls. You let the balls harden and then dip them in melted chocolate. This is a fun twist on a cake pop.

Why We Love This Cookie Pop Recipe

  • Quick and easy prep. It takes no time to whip up and have them ready. You buy premade Lofthouse cookies for the base of these cookie pops.
  • It’s a fun twist for those who don’t love cake. This delicious cookie-based dessert is the perfect sweet treats for holiday parties, events, birthday parties, etc.
  • No baking is required in these sugar cookie balls.
  • You only need three simple ingredients—four if you count sprinkles. For a perfect truffle, go for a classic rainbow or opt for festive sprinkles to fit a theme.
  • It is affordable to make, and the cost is much less than going to your favorite coffee shop and buying cake pops.

Ingredients Needed

Cookies—Head to the store and buy Lofthouse soft-baked sugar cookies for this recipe. It is important that they are soft-baked cookies.

Cream Cheese—Choose cream cheese that has been softened to room temperature. This will give the dough the perfect texture for rolling into balls.

Candy Melts—You can Pick any color of candy melts to create the perfect brightly colored candy coating to dip the balls in. The melted candy coating can be any color you want. Or opt for melted chocolate if you prefer it over candy melts: white chocolate, almond bark, or even chocolate chips that are melted. Add a little coconut oil to help the chocolate harden up.

Sprinkles—The sprinkles on top are optional, but we love the festive party vibe they give off.

Helpful supplies

  5. Melt your chocolate as directed on the package.
  6. Place your stick in the chocolate, getting the tip dipped. Then, stick it into the cookie ball and freeze for 20 minutes.

Pro Tips And Variations

  • Use different sugar cookies. Depending on the season, you can buy flavors like chocolate, key lime, etc.
  • When dipping the cookie balls into chocolate, any color of melted chocolate or candy melts works. Have fun and get creative if necessary.
  • Decorate with a drizzle of chocolate or top with decorations of choice, and omit sprinkles.
  • Freezing the stick into the ball before dipping will help ensure it won’t fall off the stick as you dip it into the chocolate.
  • Make sure to use a cookie scoop, as it will help to create evenly-sized cookie balls.
  • Another option is not to use the sticks. Instead, roll in chocolate and let it dry on a parchment-lined tray.

FAQs

Can I use homemade sugar cookies?

You can use homemade sugar cookies instead of the Lofthouse style. The biggest thing is that if you don’t have a soft-baked cookie, it can easily be a bit too dry. But the cookies have to be soft-baked.

Do I need a double boiler for melting chocolate?

The package of chocolate candy wafers shows how to melt the chocolate in a double boiler and how to melt it in the microwave. You can use either method.

  • Summer-approved are also so much fun for tailgating, birthday parties, and more. These cookie bags are a hit.
  • No Bake Dessert is a fun walking banana pudding recipe requiring minimal effort and a big flavor payout.
  • Each of the banana pudding snack bags contains fresh banana slices, which makes this tasty treat a popular dessert!
packages of nilla wafers, banana, and box of pudding

Ingredients

Vanilla Pudding – I used boxed vanilla pudding for this recipe to make it crazy simple. You are more than welcome to use any flavor or make homemade pudding.

Milk – I used Lactaid, but any milk or milk replacement works.

Nilla Wafers – I bought single serve packages of Nilla Wafers for this recipe.

Bananas – Slice and top with fresh bananas! So delicious and easy.

Variations to Recipe

  • Top with a maraschino cherry
  • Add in other fruit if you want – strawberries, blueberries, etc.
  • Use a Cool Whip or whipped cream to add a dollop to each Nilla Wafer bag.
  • Change up the cookies and use Golden Oreos or Animal crackers in replace of the cookies.
  • Make homemade banana pudding instead of instant pudding mix if you prefer.
  • Drizzle in caramel, chocolate sauce, chopped nuts, etc.

How to Make

Full steps for this recipe are in the printable recipe card. This is a quick walk-through.

Step One: Make your pudding as directed on the package and then set it up fully in the fridge.

Step Two: Grab your single-serve bags of Nilla wafer cookies. Open them up and then add some of the pudding into each bag of cookies. I did around three tablespoons each.

Step Three: Slice up a banana and then place 4-6 pieces of banana in each of the bags.

Serve and enjoy this walking taco dessert!

Recipe Notes:

Allow your pudding to be fully set up so it isn’t runny when you put it in the bags of cookies.

The Nilla wafer cookies will get soggy as it sits with the banana pudding. So make these pudding desserts right before you plan to serve it.

Leave items in their containers and let your family or friends make their walking tacos.

Do not assemble until ready to serve, as the pudding can soften up the cookies.

If you are camping or tailgating, reach for disposable spoons for an easy-to-throw-away dessert. It makes for easy cleanup.

Ingredients

  • Sugar cookie dough– You can buy pre-made sugar cookie dough or make homemade sugar cookies. Feel free to reach for your favorite sugar cookie recipe. You can also purchase roll dough for easy mini pizzas.
  • Cream cheese—The cream cheese layer helps to add a tangy flavor to the sweet cookies, balancing out all the flavors. Make sure to reach for softened cream cheese.
  • Butter – Real butter is recommended for making the frosting topping the cookies.
  • Powdered sugar—If your powdered sugar has clumps, you can sift it to make it extra velvety.
  • Marshmallow cream – The marshmallow cream is what makes this pizza dessert a considerable success.
  • Heavy cream – It helps thin the frosting to make it perfectly spreadable.
  • Vanilla – A splash of vanilla brightens up the frosting.
  • Fruit of your choice – Do berry toppings, mandarin oranges, strawberries, kiwi, or other fruit types. This is the perfect summer dessert recipe where you can buy juicy berries and fruit in season.

How to Make

  1. Bake the cookies according to the packaging directions and let them cool completely.
  2. Combine the powdered sugar, whipping cream, cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and marshmallow cream in a stand mixer until smooth and creamy.
  3. Chop fruit and ice the cooled cookies with the fruit pizza frosting. Add pieces of fruit as desired and serve. Enjoy!

Variations To Recipe

  • For a citrus flavor, add fresh lemon, lime, or orange juice to the frosting or zest the citrus fruit.
  • Mix some food coloring into the frosting for different themes and color combinations.
  • Choose any fruit you like! Do a red, white, and blue theme for a happy 4th of July, pinks or blues for a baby shower, etc.
  • Add 1/2 – 1 teaspoon of almond extract to the icing for a fun flavor!
  • Make a large pizza instead of mini pizzas. Just spread out the Pillsbury sugar cookie dough like a large pizza. The cookie will act like a pizza crust.
  • Use any shape of cookie cutter o create fun shaped pizzas.
  • To lighten it up, use Cool Whip instead of frosting to top the chewy sugar cookie base.
  • Top with white chocolate shavings or chocolate chips.

What other kinds of fruit can I add?

  • Pineapple
  • Pomegranate
  • Blackberries
  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Peaches
  • Grapefruit
  • Grapes
  • Or anything else you like!

Storing

Refrigerate any cookies you do not eat immediately—place them in a sealed container in the fridge. Make sure the cookies are in a single row. They will last for 2-5 days.

You can freeze it, but leave off the fruit. If you add the fruit, it will become soggy once it thaws.

FAQs

Is fruit pizza a healthy dessert option?

Dessert pizza is a delicious dessert, but with the sugar cookie base and cream cheese frosting, this recipe contains quite a bit of sugar. Eat within moderation.

Can I add other toppings to fruit pizza?

Add any fruits or toppings you want—shredded coconut, nuts, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, etc. Have fun and get creative with ways to decorate the dessert pizzas.

Can I make fruit pizza ahead of time?

Make the frosting and cookies 1-2 days in advance. Wait to place the fruit on until right before serving. The fruit will leak as the fruit breaks down, so it is best to put it on top right before serving.

How do I prevent the fruit from making the pizza soggy?

Pat the fruit dry with a paper towel before you place it on the pizza. Another option is to lightly dust the tops of each cookie with powdered sugar before you place the fruit on top of the cookies to help absorb liquid.

Expert Tips For Success

  • Don’t add too much chocolate or it will become pretty messy.
  • Line your baking dish or baking sheet with foil or parchment paper to make an easy cleanup.
  • The oven rack should be in the middle row.
  • Roast over the open fire for a campfire, or even use your air fryer for cooking up the s’mores.
  • You can microwave or heat in the oven. To heat in the microwave just place one on a plate or microwave safe bowl and heat for 20-30 seconds.

FAQs

Can you roast Peeps over a fire?

Yes, you can roast Peeps over a fire! Roasting Peeps over an open flame is a popular Easter tradition in many parts of the world. To do so, simply skewer the Peep on a stick or metal rod and hold it over the fire until it gets golden brown and starts to bubble.

Are Peeps the same as marshmallows?

Peeps are a type of marshmallow candy, but they are not the same as regular marshmallows. While both Peeps and marshmallows are made from a mixture of sugar, corn syrup, gelatin, and flavoring, Peeps are a bit different in terms of their shape, texture, and consistency.

What is the most popular Peep color?

Yellow was the first favorite. Over the years, Peeps have expanded their color palette and now come in a wide variety of colors, including pink, blue, purple, green, and orange, to name a few. In recent years, pink has also become a popular color for Peeps, particularly during the spring and Easter season when pink represents the colors of blooming flowers.

ingredients for Air Fryer Peaches on table. Peaches, bowl of cinnamon, bowl of brown sugar, and butter

Here is all you need for this air fryer peaches recipe.

Peaches – Reach for fresh peaches for this recipe. The riper the peaches the better as it will allow for a sweeter result.

Butter – Real butter is recommended for this dessert.

Brown Sugar – Light brown sugar is going to add a deep buttery and caramel flavor to the peaches.

Cinnamon – The warm ground cinnamon helps to enhance the flavor of the recipe even more. It also offers a golden brown color to the peach.

How to Make

Full steps on how to make air fryer peaches are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a quick walkthrough on how to make the peaches.

  1. Start by preheating the air fryer. Then in a small bowl add the sugar, and cinnamon and mix well.

Storing Leftover Air Fryer Peaches

Refrigerate: You will want to refrigerate any peaches in an airtight container. Then store for 2-3 days. Eat the leftovers cold or warm them up in the microwave or oven.

Freeze: now you can freeze the peaches, but know they will be softer once you thaw them out from being frozen. You can freeze the peaches for 1-2 months. Then reheat from frozen or thaw in the fridge overnight.

Tips For Success

  • I highly recommend reaching for ripe peaches for the best flavor and texture. Underripe peaches will lack in flavor and texture.
  • Aim to slice the peaches in half so they are both similar in size. This is going to help ensure the peaches air fry up evenly.
  • Spread the topping evenly over the top of the peaches so you get an even coating.
  • These air-fried peaches are best served warm and fresh from the air fryer.
  • Place skin side down on the air fryer basket, so the open flesh part of the peach halves is facing upward. You can line it with parchment paper to prevent the spillage of the bubble over.
